10 Things I Judged Before I Had Kids & Now Do Not

  1. Kids’ leashes
  2. Television (and computers) for kids
  3. Bribery
  4. Gum for a 4 yr-old)
  5. Sending kids to school with bed head (Well I still do judge this–but what is up with boys and hair?   This is completely clean hair—bath last night, brushed…and here we are. )
  6. Making your own baby food Before I had kids it seemed really high maintenance to me b/c there are so many on the market.   But now I think I was ridiculous and there are about 500 great reasons to do that  (including the environment and knowing precisely what your kid is eating)…so, my bad.  FYI-I did not then make my own, but I am also not judging it–progress.
  7. Breastfeeding someone who can walk
  8. Breastfeeding in public
  9. Parents who leave their car seats on the top of the car (child in it) and drive off. (This has not happened to me, but I can honestly now see how it could from sleep depravation alone or if too many people were asking me a question at the same time.  I have left my wallet on the top and driven off and I swear to you it was really important to me not to do that either…)
  10. Other Parents (at least for the most part–see below)

My friend said to me the other day at our school drop off “Can you believe that everyone here is pulling it off?  All these parents are getting their kids here, pretty much on time, dressed and fed…it’s kind of amazing.”  Seriously, it is.
